Good evening everyone,
This week I am writing about the international climate meeting, COP28, which has been going on for the past two weeks in Abu Dhabi. It has been a very contentious meeting, to put it mildly. It was supposed to have concluded today, giving me, I thought, enough time to collect my thoughts and post by Thursday morning, as usual.
However, the best laid plans, etc. The meeting is in overtime and still going on, and while Reuters is reporting that we are now in “the final hours” of negotiations, nobody outside the room really knows that (I bet many people in the room don’t know, either).
I will thus postpone this week’s post, which will instead arrive sometime over the weekend.
This will also be the 25th and last Earthward post for the year. I will be away for a bit of an extended holiday, returning on January 11, so expect the next edition the week after that.
Thank you all so much for your readership, and please don’t hesitate to reach out with comments, questions, or ideas for what you might like to see in the New Year!
Happy Holidays!
John
