Earthward is back!
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Earthward!
I’ve just finished a very busy Spring term with double teaching - hence the hiatus in new Earthward posts. And now that my separation from PSU is formalized for later this year, I am able to devote much more attention to healthy climate advocacy.
The first new essay will arrive in your email within a few hours. It is about the new technology known as “turquoise hydrogen” and its possible role in helping lower greenhouse gas emissions during the renewable energy transition. I’m writing about this because our local gas utility, Northwest Natural, has installed a turquoise hydrogen module in a facility not far from my neighborhood, and is already blending hydrogen into the gas pipeline system.
Earthward will focus more on Oregon-specific climate and energy issues in the upcoming months, but always with a view toward the larger national and global picture.
I’m also very happy to have joined the Steering Committee for Mobilizing Climate Action Together, a group of experienced healthy climate advocates I had already been working with for awhile. If you are an Oregon resident and would like to learn more about MCAT’s advocacy work on promoting healthy climate and renewable energy legislation, check out our website: https://mcat-climate.org
If you are interested in getting involved in advocacy, you can fill out a short form and tell us what you are interested in! The form is available here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1q2uJhMMtTTQ6H4-BO5zgkmVCRQ_qk5kv1m8KYcu5_xY/edit
I hope you enjoy Earthward!
