Welcome to Earthward! Earthward is a weekly newsletter covering the climate and renewable energy space. It explores the gap between our present situation and what it will take to realize aspirations for a fully decarbonized world.
Each Thursday, a new Earthward post dives deeply into a relevant topic in the recent news, offering explanation and context to put the issue in relief. The first Earthward newsletter was published on June 29, 2023, on the increasing mainstream acceptance of solar geoengineering. Other topics so far include climate doomism, offshore wind technology, and voluntary carbon credit markets.
Earthward takes a science-forward and (as much as possible) politically inclusive approach. It aims to inform and inspire action by citizen advocates, and to serve as a resource for high school, university and adult education classes on climate change and renewable energy.
I am a research scientist specializing in environmental biochemistry, with additional formal training in environmental law and experience with climate advocacy work in Washington DC and Oregon state.
Again, welcome, and I hope that you enjoy and benefit from reading Earthward!
Topic suggestions: regenerative farming; contribution to climate change by meat production agriculture; electric powered airplanes, jets, etc.
